Terms of Service

About Shared.pet and these terms

Shared.pet is a platform for voluntary, non-commercial relationships between pet owners and people who would enjoy sharing time with a pet. Members are not paid for caring for pets through Shared.pet. Membership fees pay for platform access and benefits, not for ownership of an animal or guaranteed care.

The operator is Vertigo Holdings LLC, a Montana limited liability company, operating as Shared.pet. Contact support@shared.pet about the service or billing, and privacy@shared.pet about personal information. The publication date shown on this page is its effective date.

Montana identifies the operator's formation jurisdiction. It does not, by itself, make Montana law exclusively applicable or require members to bring disputes there. Applicable mandatory consumer and privacy protections remain in place.

These terms govern use of the platform. The Privacy Notice explains information handling. Separate, clearly presented terms may apply to a purchase, gift, creator campaign or facility arrangement. Mandatory consumer and privacy rights take priority over conflicting language. Nothing here removes a right that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Who may join

You must be at least 18 and have reached the age of majority where you live, and be able to enter into this agreement. A pet owner must have authority to arrange the pet's care and any necessary permission from another owner, household member, landlord or other responsible person. An organization must have an authorized representative and an agreed arrangement with Shared.pet before representing an organizational service.

Use accurate account information, keep your sign-in secure, and tell us promptly about unauthorized use. Do not impersonate someone, create an account for a child, or use another person's account without authorization. You are responsible for your own activity, but this does not shift responsibility for failures that the law makes ours.

Profiles and getting to know each other

Give honest, current information about your circumstances, availability and relevant experience. Owners must disclose known care needs, medical instructions, bite history, escape risks and other material safety concerns to the appropriate person before care is transferred. Sharers should describe their actual capabilities and limits. Do not accept a suggestion as a fact merely because it came from a breed profile or AI.

Compatibility scores, descriptions, assistant answers and any verification indicators have limited purposes. They are not guarantees, veterinary advice, background checks unless explicitly described as such, or evidence that a pet is safe in a particular situation. Shared.pet does not promise a match, a minimum number of nearby members, a successful relationship, or continuous availability.

Meetings, trials and ongoing care

Get to know each other before transferring care. Plan an appropriate first meeting, observe how the pet responds, and begin with a manageable trial. Agree on pickup and return, supervision, food, exercise, training cues, time alone, medication, emergency contacts and who can authorize veterinary treatment or spending. Obtain any permissions needed for travel, home access or handling by another person.

Use humane care and reward-based guidance. Physical punishment, cruelty, neglect and unsafe handling are prohibited. Do not transfer a pet to another person, change material care arrangements, or authorize non-emergency treatment without the necessary authority. In an emergency, prioritize immediate safety and appropriate professional help.

Both people must freely agree to each step. Paying for a membership or providing a Companion Pass never gives control over another member or a pet. Anyone can decline or end a relationship. Ending a relationship must still include a safe, agreed return of the pet and any necessary care arrangements; it is not permission to abandon an animal or withhold it in a dispute. Sharing does not transfer legal ownership of the pet.

Members are responsible for confirming applicable animal-control, licensing, housing, travel and insurance requirements. Shared.pet is not an insurer, veterinarian or emergency service. Do not assume a membership includes insurance, reimbursement or veterinary-cost coverage unless a separate, applicable policy expressly says so.

Free access and paid connection features

Creating an account, browsing and expressing interest are free. Conversations and meeting arrangements require the applicable membership coverage for both people, or an eligible Circle Companion Pass for the introduction. The service explains eligibility before a paid feature is used.

Shared+ includes one active sharing-relationship slot. Shared+ Circle includes up to three active slots and one reassignable Companion Pass, subject to the displayed allocation rules. Conversations with eligible people do not themselves consume an active-sharing slot; a slot is allocated before a trial. A pass does not transfer your membership or grant the recipient every Circle benefit. Two Circle memberships remain separate even when members connect with one another.

Benefits do not guarantee that all slots will be used. An unused pass, unused slot, or the other person having their own membership does not automatically create a refund right. Applicable law and any express refund offer still apply. Changes to coverage can affect future access or sharing eligibility, but should not be used to obstruct safety reporting or an orderly return of a pet.

Prices, renewals and cancellation

Before you pay, review the plan, charge amount, currency, taxes, billing interval, renewal terms and any applicable promotional conditions. Prices may differ between countries or currencies. The numeric amount alone does not establish the currency. Stripe processes payments; your bank may impose its own conversion or other charges.

An automatically renewing annual subscription renews until cancelled under the terms presented at purchase. Cancel through Membership and the billing-management link before the next renewal to stop future renewal charges. If that link does not work or you cannot access your account, contact support@shared.pet for help cancelling. Do not rely on deleting the app or ending a sharing relationship to cancel billing.

Unless a purchase offer or applicable law provides otherwise, cancellation stops future renewals and access continues for the paid period. It does not automatically refund elapsed or unused time. We will provide required acknowledgments, renewal or price-change notices and obtain consent where required. A price or material renewal change cannot be imposed contrary to applicable law.

Refunds and billing concerns

Contact support@shared.pet promptly about a duplicate, unauthorized or incorrect charge, a cancellation problem or a refund request. Include the account email and a receipt or transaction reference, but never a full card number. We will consider the circumstances, any offer made at purchase, and applicable statutory rights. These terms do not limit lawful chargebacks, cancellation rights, remedies for non-performance, or consumer guarantees.

Gifts and sponsored access

A gift does not oblige the recipient to join, accept an introduction or share a pet. Redemption and application are separate: the service explains how the gift is applied, and membership time starts as described in the gift offer. A gift does not itself enroll the recipient into automatic renewal. A later renewing purchase requires its own clear agreement.

Enter the recipient information carefully. Do not resell, misappropriate or use a gift code fraudulently. Any restrictions, expiry, transfer or refund conditions must be disclosed before purchase and comply with applicable law. A gift or paid pass does not purchase influence over the recipient.

Respectful use and content

Do not harass, discriminate unlawfully, threaten, deceive, exploit, stalk, or post unlawful content. Do not publish another person's private information or photos without authority. Respect intellectual-property rights. Do not introduce malware, attack the service, scrape private information, evade access controls, or misuse safety-reporting tools.

Follow the contact-sharing rules shown in the service. Do not conceal phone numbers, social handles or other contact details to bypass a restriction. Automated checks may prevent a profile or message from being published. You may ask support to review a suspected mistake; an automated result is not conclusive proof of wrongdoing.

You keep ownership of content you provide. You grant Shared.pet a non-exclusive permission to host, store, reproduce, format and display that content as reasonably needed to operate the features you choose, including sharing it with the relevant members and processing it with disclosed service providers. This is not a blanket permission to use private messages or identifiable photos in public advertising. We will seek separate permission for that use.

Safety reports, moderation and account restrictions

We may review reports, restrict content or access, or suspend an account when reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, fraud prevention or enforcement of these terms. Where appropriate and lawful, we will explain the action and provide a way to contact support for review. We may withhold details when disclosure would compromise another person's privacy, safety or an investigation.

Contact local emergency services for an immediate threat and a veterinarian for urgent animal-health concerns. Platform reports and email are not monitored as an emergency-response service. Do not wait for a reply where immediate help is needed.

Service limits and responsibility

Pet sharing involves real-world risks, including bites, injury, escape, illness, property damage and disagreements. Each participant must make informed decisions and take reasonable precautions. We do not supervise in-person care or control another member's conduct.

To the extent permitted by law, the platform is provided without a promise that every suggested match, message, assessment or feature will be accurate or uninterrupted. This does not exclude liability for our own conduct where exclusion is prohibited, or waive mandatory rights relating to negligence, personal injury, fraud, consumer protection or other applicable law.

Ending an account and resolving concerns

You can stop using the service and request account deletion in Settings or through support. Some records require support-assisted handling or lawful retention, as explained in the Privacy Notice. Separately cancel any renewing membership. Obligations connected with outstanding care, lawful charges, disputes and permitted record retention may continue after account closure.

Please contact support@shared.pet first if you would like help resolving a concern. This does not prevent you from approaching a regulator, using a statutory complaint process or bringing a claim in a court with jurisdiction. Nothing requires you to give up non-waivable local rights or accept an exclusive foreign forum.

Changes and accessible copies

We will give appropriate notice of material changes and obtain agreement where required. Changes are not retroactive waivers of an existing claim or statutory right. Purchase-specific terms continue to apply as required by law. Contact support@shared.pet if you need an accessible copy or help understanding these terms.
